A’s Fernando Rodriguez to undergo Tommy John surgery

The Athletics got some bad news on reliever Fernando Rodriguez as it appears he has a torn UCL and will require Tommy John surgery. The A’s were counting on Rodriguez, who came over with Jed Lowrie in a trade from the Astros, to be a key member of their bullpen in ’13. Not to be.
As far as how the bullpen shakes out now, we have updated the Athletics page with a projection (courtesy of Jason Martinez at mlbdepthcharts.com). Evan Scribner will make his way into the bullpen for now.
